Welcome from the Foundation President

Welcome to the Dakota State University Foundation website. Our goal is to raise scholarship money to help students further their education at DSU. First, I want to thank the many financial supporters of Dakota State for their past generosity. It is your support that helps make a difference in the lives of the students who benefit from the scholarships you have provided. Second, if you are not currently contributing to the Foundation I would encourage you to do so today. Your contribution is an investment in a student's future and helps us to recruit and retain students that might otherwise not be able to attend college.

It is very exciting to be working as the Director of Development for my alma mater and take on the challenges that are present. I know first hand what it is like to be the recipient of a scholarship that was provided through the generosity and caring of others. I am pleased to be able to work with the donors and staff here at DSU to help provide that same opportunity for students today.

I believe development work and the goals of the DSU Foundation need to proceed on both a short term and long term basis. The short term is the scholarship money we are raising and providing to students today through our Champion Scholars program. The more we can increase these funds the more students we can attract to come to DSU. At the same time we need to continue to grow and add to the money in the various endowed scholarship programs so that the overall base of scholarship dollars will continue to grow. Interest on the money in the endowed scholarship programs is what is used to pay out these scholarships on an annual basis

My goal is to be as comprehensive as possible in making contact with those involved with Dakota State to ask them to contribute towards a scholarship program. I want to focus on getting more people to make contributions and get in the habit of doing this on an annual basis. We can achieve a tremendous amount of growth with more participation from the alumni and friends of DSU. From there we will work to grow those contributions and pursue a capital campaign in the near future to help achieve the needs of the university.

I look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones in the course of my duties as development director. I hope to visit with you soon.
